A faithful 2-3 player Cribbage implementation — the discard, the pegging battle, and the show, all the way down to “his heels” and the crib.
How to play
- Each hand, every player is dealt cards and discards down into the crib — a shared hand that belongs to no one until it’s counted, and scores for whoever’s dealing.
- Pegging: players take turns playing one card at a time face up, counting the running total out loud (well — on screen). Score for hitting 15 or 31 exactly, pairs, and runs; if no one can play without going over 31, that’s a “go,” worth a point.
- The show: once pegging’s done, hands are counted one at a time — non-dealer(s) first, then the dealer, then the crib last — scoring every 15, pair, run, flush, and “nobs” they contain against the shared starter card.
- First to the target score (121, or 61 in a short game) wins.
Good to know
- 2 or 3 players — with 3, a single extra card is dealt straight to the crib to keep it fair.
- Score is tracked on a running ledger board with two pegs per player, the same way a real cribbage board shows your last hand’s jump.
- Host settings: Short game (race to 61 instead of 121), Claim your own score (count your hand yourself before the real value is revealed), and Muggins (everyone else gets a chance to catch — and steal — points you missed).
